Laredo Foodie

It’s been 10 days and only one post. Let’s hope this new food-centered blog (well, restaurant-centered) makes it. I’m rooting for you.

UPDATE: It is also on facebook and twitter 🙂 and JUST updated the day after I wrote this post. Yay – signs of life!

Well, there was also Thrifty Diners who might still make a comeback and also my favorite Canadians in Laredo – Food Tease. Their videos were AWESOME and they were so adventurous in the kitchen. I miss them both.

OMGosh did you ever see the Laredo episode of “no reservations” with Anthony Bourdain, i was mortified & so disappointed in the stupidity of the food trends in this town because he travels looking for local flavors and loves to find home cooked goodness in hole in wall places and such. where did the officials take him? for sushi!!!! words cannot even describe how much of a dumb move that was! he ended up talking to the sushi chef who was from Monterrey and quickly departed the retards here that run this town & ended up visiting the chef’s grandma there! such stupidity!! *eye roll* that could have made a good advertising for tourists to come sample local flavors but alas this town does not embrace it roots and looks desperately to be something it’s not. massive fail!

I dont know WHO coordinated the Bourdain visit….but they missed SO many things: Ranching culture, barbacoa (preferably with plenty of cilantro and cabbage), tripitas, (they did it on the American Southwest episode with the singer from Queens of the Stone Age), Menudo, etc….They whiffed on the WBCA events (a friend ran into him at Jamboozie) and ended up in Monterrey of all places…..wow!

It WAS ridiculous. Luckily he ran into the Emperor Garden’s SUSHI chef (Mexico born) who pointed him in the right direction for some GOOD OL’ Mexican Fare. LMAO!!!
