Even less money for Nuevo Laredo’s crime fighting

According to the Mexico’s recent funding decisions maybe I should have said, “Nuevo Laredo’s NON crime fighting.”

In an AP story titled “Mexico suspends anti-crime grants to 172 violent towns, citing possible misuse of police money” in the Washington Post, it looks like our sister city is cortada:

Alcantara told Milenio TV on Monday that Ciudad Juarez, Reynosa and Nuevo Laredo, cities along the border with Texas, are among those being cut off.

Soooo – now what? Forever martial law? I’m still hoping for the best for all of Mexico.

Simply not a good thing… A report about this on Pro8 says the funding amounts to 40% of NL’s police budget 😦
