KSAT’s Border Watch

Ever get the sneaking feeling that we are being watched?? I am not talking about halcones, although they are entirely possible in Laredo. No, I am talking about others watching… ok, ok, paranoia aside.

The city of Laredo is dead set on making sure the world knows Laredo is not the same city as Nuevo Laredo. We know it, though, but some of the headlines are finally picking up on it like KSAT’s story whose title says it all:

Border Towns A Tale Of 2 Cities
Laredo Has Low Crime Rate; Nuevo Laredo Is Under Martial Law
Jessie Degollado, KSAT 12 News Reporter
POSTED: Tuesday, July 26, 2011

In case you need to read quotes by Mayor Salinas and what other folks have to say about Laredo and how different it is from Nuevo Laredo, just click on this link.

Jessie Degollado is originally from Laredo, where she was a reporter for KGNS for quite some time before moving on to SA. I would hope that she could be a catalyst for some honest reporting on our city’s safety record.

  2. Keyrose says:

Why does the mayor pronounce the word ‘homocide’ the way you would ‘homosapien’? Strange man.
