More artwork – for the South Texas Food Bank!

The Bender Hotel blog post was about its mostly mass-produced, cheaply-made disposable artwork that has its own merit and its own place. I had actually started posting it to contrast with the works of art being produced for the South Texas Food Bank’s Empty Bowls event in August. The concept is simple – bowls are decorated by artists and sold at auction to benefit the programs of the South Texas Food Bank. Give it a few years of the tradition and what happens? A full arts show!

That is right my fellow South Texans, expect some awesome artwork like the following:

Daniel Maltzman has a pretty big following. Check out his standard price list yet you can start the bid for his above work at lower and hope you don’t get outbid!

The Artists Reception is tonight at the Center for the Arts and the Empty Bowls event is in August.

Maybe I should contribute my sketch of el Señor de la Caguama… maybe not. Our little St. Peter’s art group will get together again soon for fun and sketching but I don’t think we will have pieces ready for the benefit of the Food Bank. That’s ok, though, they have the above great pieces for the auction. Good luck South Texas Food Bank!!
