Gecko bath or soup?

For a second, I jumped at the thought of finally finding the elusive Laredo river-monster, El Tragón, in baby form! Then I saw it had back legs and it didn’t screech when I reached for it. Bah, a simple house gecko (or is it something else…??).

My kitchen was not prepared for the small guest that is usually seen on the outsides of homes in South Texas. I tried to get it out but those suckers are quick. I lost sight of it but for all I know, it probably is the added protein in the frijoles de olla I put on the stove this morning. Hopefully it found its way out, though. Live on little gecko!
