I wanted to post this opinion piece yesterday but my usual site was experiencing some technical difficulties. Anyway, here it is (from the LMT Op/Ed page).

With No Election This Year, City and County Officials Dis Vietnam Veterans At Function
To the editor:

On April 30, 2011, a Saturday, the City of Laredo sponsored a Vietnam Veterans parade. This important event was to give thanks to our Vietnam veterans for protecting our country and our freedom. There was a reception afterward and not one elected official from the city or the county showed up to support and give thanks to our Vietnam veterans. If it had been election time, all the city and county elected officials would have shown up. Remember: No veterans, no freedom.

The previous Monday, city hall hosted the veterans, but I’m not sure why they didn’t attend the weekend festivities. As far as I know, there wasn’t any trip scheduled by city leaders. They probably figured one tribute a week was enough.

Enjoy this podcast while my other site is down.

Of course, you have to visit his temporary new site to listen to the podcast. Good luck to those using Blogger (except for one of you)!!
