Power out in 5 Laredo zip codes

screen shot of AEP Texas Outage website

My power was out and I didn’t think much of it until United South HS teen techie, Alan Garcia was asking who was out of power on FB. With my lights back on, I checked on the AEP website (as if it couldn’t be done with a handy dandy smart phone). That is a whole lot of Laredoans without light!

If you are one of them – by the time you read this, it will be ooooooold news. Sorry, hope your milk doesn’t spoil.

Ugh- We’re out of town- The last time we lost power, the lack of heat had bad consequences for our caged arthropods. Thanks for the update!

It seems like the power outages are over for right now. From the AEP website, it looked like most of the outages were in South Laredo. I live in downtown but it came back on right away for me. Hope your critters are doing well!!

Well, sad news- Our giant millipede didn’t make it and our hermit crabs are ailing- After being gone for 3 weeks, and with an excellent caregiver, he still succombed- But, I think our cats got bored and assaulted him- We’re actually kind of bummed about it- The giant millipedes can live for 10 years and ours only made it for 2. 😦

If you leave it in your fridge and don’t open it often the milk should last a few hrs.

Here in IL, the power was out for almost a whole day a couple weeks ago. We didn’t open the fridge, and everything inside was still edible by the time Com-Ed got around to us. The bad part was not having water for that amount of time.

I hope everyone’s pets are OK in Laredo. We only have cats, and with their night vision and fur, they probably don’t even notice power outages. They really hate tornado sirens though, so we found out. Cat comic strips are making a return to my blog this week, pezcita.wordpress.com
