Gasland, don’t miss it!

No way!! We JUST wrote about Gasland a few days ago and guess what? It will be shown here in Laredo! And – the best part… its FREE!

I am definitely going, hope many of you will consider it too.

FREE SCREENING OF GASLAND DOCUMENTARY

The Río Grande International Study Center, in conjunction with the Laredo Public Library — invites the Laredo public to a free screening of Gasland – the Academy Award nominated documentary about hydraulic fracturing (fracking) for natural gas. Fracking has resulted in the groundwater contamination in numerous communities across the country.

The screening will be held at the Laredo Public Library’s Multi-purpose Room on Sunday, April 17, at 2:30 p.m. Natural gas exploration has long been an active industry in Webb and Zapata counties. The recent gas boom with the Eagle Ford Shale play in neighboring Dimmit County (Crystal City and Carrizo Springs) to the northwest behooves the public to become aware of this potentially dangerous method of drilling for natural gas.

For further information, please call RGISC at 721-5392.

The film screening will take place:

– SUNDAY, April 17
– 2:30 p.m.
– Laredo Public Library Multi-purpose Room)
– Free
– Refreshments will be served.

This is part of a nation-wide screening event hosted by Democracy for America, and Gasland director Josh Fox. RGISC is not an affiliate of Democracy for America.

All in the name of ” GREED” profit first ,safety last ! Seems to be the norm for the energy industry. Look at Japan it could happen here in Texas as well .
