Who needs a live girlfriend when you can have…

A CLOUD GIRLFRIEND!

At the suggestion of a reader on Facebook and after a little incident with a different reader being weirded out and targeted by a fake profile (ah, yes, the dangers of Facebook – HA!), I saw the award-winning documentary CATFISH.

The documentary is a “beware of virtual girlfriends” whereas Cloud Girlfriend is “beware of your friend’s new girlfriend you only see online” – ha!

With the increasing online presence, we do eventually meet a person or two or many online. The guy who cut my trees came from Cantu Trimming who posted a note on craigslist; my introduction to Laredo was online because I was the first person my Laredo employer had hired from the internet; I went to Veracruz to a cousin’s wedding whom I had only met online; my Rotary club was donated oranges and grapefruits from strangers who saw a request online, and today I got a chance to meet an artist who is a regular reader of the blog – surprise, surprise. For those connected to the internet, the world is just wider and ready for interaction.

So if you want a fantasy girlfriend to pretend to connect with you – go for it; if you create a fantasy relationship with someone you meet online, well… like I said, it is a fantasy – reality is never the same outside of the controlled and limited setting of the internet.

My question is, why is there no cloud boyfriend?!?!?!
