A solution for the Beer Run complaints

How long has it been since we last heard the complaints from the churches near a few Laredo beer runs?? The decency issue has come up over and under and around again.

None of the bloggers (BTB and LaSanbe and Laredotejas) seem to have had any issues with the beer run “girls” – except maybe not being able to get a better shot with video. Laredo City council doesn’t either when they said no laws were broken.

But just to make Beer Runs a little bit more palatable, maybe Laredo can try what Old Town Spring has – Christian pole dancing…

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Don’t shoot the messenger, not even when she suggests that the pole be a cross… I’ll shut up now.
Thanks Angie in Houston for your link!

Beer run always makes me think of this song- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_e0RmoHb0Y Guess that makes me a gringo, eh? Just don’t associate a beer run with “dancers”…

    • Que Fregados says:

We never had beer runs in our state – none that I know of – so when my friends come down to visit, the weirdest “museum” I can take them to is one of the local beer runs. Gringo or no gringo, it will be as new to them as it was for me – girls & all.

We had the drive-thru/window pick-up liquor stores, but no dancers to get anyone’s attention.

    • stxparrothead says:

Although now that I think about it, the drive thru’s were mostly in downtown East Moline & Sylvis (also know as little Mexico- many Mexican immigrants there due to the factories & farmland in the area.) Actually maybe that’s why I like Laredo so much- reminds a little bit of home 😉 And yes- the Mexican food in “Little Mexico” was just as good as any I’ve had down here- just had to know where to go!

    • Que Fregados says:

I can see it now – the little B double E double R UN ditty playing in the background to let East Moline know that beer and singing is ok but beer and dancing is not 😛

At least they’re observing the Sabbath ; “she will make no profit on God’s day”. Also, I noticed how they didn’t bother to explain why they need to “take care of their bodies” while wearing 6 inch heels. Doesn’t that sort of destroy your feet?? Get ready for Laredo’s own Beer Run preachers (and backup girls) on Public Access.

A friend’s daughter came across the Mami Chulas video on YouTube and recognized one of her high school classmates dancing away. There must not be a problem with minors selling beer since it happens at other businesses. But I would shut those places down simply for bad taste and creepiness — the owner of the place is the aunt of the girl.

    • Que Fregados says:

You are right, KR. I think I mentioned it before but I finally got a chance to meet the “star” of the video during a presentation at a certain HS. She is actually a SOPHOMORE. My almost step-daughter goes to the same HS and says the little, let me stress that again LITTLE (as in minor, not mature, niña, not legally able to consent), girl is proud of the attention she is getting.

  5. BT Blues says:

Give Joe Valdez, Jr. a call. I am sure he will join the crusade against Beer Runs.

  6. Juanita says:

I have no problem with women dancing at beer runs. You see the same at a pool. People having fun wearing next to nothing. Meh. No big deal.

Let beer run NUNS issue DIE !
