LareDOS’ Boast, Roast & Toast

Of course, we can’t forget to support our local independent newspaper LareDOS – especially when LareDOS supports many bloggers.

This Thursday, January 27th, LareDOS is putting on a little shindig to raise some much needed funds. Even if you can’t make it, don’t forget that a subscription to LareDOS keeps the great news stories coming month after month.

A fund raiser…. for what exactly?

Fundraisers are for schools, organizations… But for a newspaper? I have seen the paper.. don’t they have a gazillion sponsors?

Fundraisers are also for other entities. Sponsors are one way of fundraising. Selling is another but LareDOS is not sold like a traditional newspaper, it is free for pick-up. They don’t seem to have more ads than the regular newspapers (you have to consider daily versus monthly, the alt paper doesn’t have many). It is not unusual to do something different to raise the monies needed to keep your business afloat. Those who go know they are supporting a very small business.

Shoot, I should start thinking of fundraisers since I dedicate a lot of time to this blog for no pay at all :). I’ve got a computer to upkeep.
