Spotty, the happy pooch story

Lost pooch in my downtown yard waiting for his owner to pick him up.

Some of you who read the few extra Facebook entries on my wall know that I have been asking if anyone was familiar with a dog that was coming around my house. I am sure my bad pictures didn’t help.

Lost dog is back in downtown. He is very gentle and chunky. Do you recognize him? On Monday I will pack him up and take him to LAPS & hope someone has been looking for him.

Que Fregados – I phrased that vaguely – he is not my dog, he is just attracted by my dogs so he’s been staying around my house.

Darlene – I just had a lady try and buy my dogs!!! I don’t know if she was just trying to play it off because she probably wanted to dog-nap my boys! Crazy, why would i want to sell my dogs?

Que Fregados – (according to BTB) dognappers are everywhere! Except downtown. Lots of strays.

Darlene – I wish we could have NO-Kill animal shelter!

Que Fregados – The sad thing is Darlene that no-kill shelters end up getting so overpacked and they may not themselves kill, but they end up sending to kill shelters 😦

Darlene – that’s sad, I didn’t want to know that- thanks alot!! J/k

Liza – We are very lucky with the no-kill shelters up here in WA, they have even gone to other states to foster out animals that would have had a death sentence.

Mary – I hope you find his family. HE WILL END UP DEAD AT THE SHELTER IN A COUPLE OF DAYS…WISH I COULD TAKE HIM IN BUT I LIVE IN AN APARTMENT AND already have a siamese named maria thats not suppose to b here..lol..SOMEBODY SAVE HIS LIFE

Que Fregados – I have a picture of his rabies tag, it has the number – he will get traced back to his home but everything has been closed so we will see tomorrow. For all I know, he is also chipped. Not to worry. I was just hoping someone would identify him earlier.

Martha – omg..his tail…resembles a cats tail. 🙂

As I promised, I called the number on the rabies tag. Critter Care (Veterinarian Dr. Leyendecker’s office) and the nice woman on the other end looked up the owner by using the number on the tag. She asked for my information and if it was ok for the owner to call me or if she wanted Critter Care to be the middle person. I gave permission to give my phone number.

Within 5 minutes, the owner of “Spotty” (what my partner started calling the dog) called and we made arrangements to have him picked up. The owner explained that his house had been broken into and a bicycle taken and the thief had let his dog out. I was hoping Spotty would find his way home during the holiday but no such luck, he would come back every night – probably because I would feed him and he liked hanging out with my three perritos.

Unfortunately, I knew everything was closed so I somewhat took care of him while he wandered the streets of Laredo licking everyone’s hand. I did try to post him on the Laredo’s Lost Pets website and quickly found out that it is not as active a site as it used to be – boo! That left his tag which was a big clue.

So readers, one dog has been returned but so many others are out there lost. If they have a tag, now you know you can call it in – unless you are a dognapper. In those cases, you can contact a cynical certain blogger… just kidding, BTB!

No name tag but a rabies tag provided enough clues to return him to his owner.
