Downtown Laredo craziness

Who said downtown was dead? Car traffic and people traffic made the streets of downtown Laredo too crowded to enjoy. Too crazy for me.

Downtown Laredo, Texas on December 23, 2010

Those downtown decorations are a little nightmarish…

Life-size Santa scared me but didn't scare the kids

Not as nightmarish as this one that came to life!

Didn't know if he was going to ask for a handout or ask me to sing karaoke with him

Everyone seems to want to get into the action, La Chueca is actually a Paletera on Zapata Highway but for some reason they were parked in downtown streets selling remote-controlled cars, hmmm… something really does sound medio chueco (a bit crooked)…

What if I just wanted to buy a paleta for Christmas??

A little further north of downtown, we do find some creative businesses getting into the spirit with their “trees”. One made of sodas:

… and tires (nice recycling!):

Vulcanizadora on Santa Maria close to downtown, tree made of used tires

Enjoy a crazy Christmas in Laredo or wherever you may be reading this little blog!! Felices Fiestas!

Thanks, QF, for being our eyes and ears in the Downtown Laredo area! Looks like businesses were staying open beyond the 6 pm “curfew”. So THAT’S what Downtown Laredo would look like if we had something to enjoy after hours!
