Greater Laredo Long Term Recovery ribbon-cutting

The phone line for this volunteer committee is now active and the coalition had a ribbon cutting on December 14, 2010 at the Laredo Books & More bookstore.

This coalition is an outgrowth of VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster) which apparently wasn’t as active as it could have been. Regardless, it has spun out to be an LTR (Long Term Recovery) coalition which includes a case management system to help those who still have issues after the Laredo flood of 2010. It is just starting out so give it some time to see how strong it can be to resolve some of the loose ends and prepare for future disasters.

I would give you their contact information but if you were affected, they already have your info. This is the group that will be transitioning from FEMA to what the community can now do for itself. Vamos a ver, vamos a ver…
