Coyote warning

The U.S. Consulate in Monterrey, Mexico sent out an alert about presenting false documents and using “coyotes” who pass off as representatives of the consulate who can help you get a visa to go to the U.S. The warning goes on to say, “Public, don’t do any of the following” (in its sternest consulate voice):

1) Don’t you DARE give us any false papers of any kind, especially something with a fake phone number after you chatted me up by the back door
2) Don’t be fooled by coyotes chillin’ near the Consulate, even if they wear polyester suits and a name tag reading “Official Helper”
3) Don’t go buying papers that you know will melt in your hands to go try to get a visa, it ain’t happenin’
4) Did someone say you have to pay for the forms to apply for a visa? They are lying out their … dude, you can get it free online
5) Give a coyote money, you can bet your bottom dollar that you will lose your money – oh wait, you won’t have a a bottom dollar if you gave it to a coyote
6) Don’t believe the hype! Believe no one but the folks inside. No one but the consulate can process your forms, can approve them or can reject them
7) Final reminder – only deal with the consulate. It ain’t hard, just show up for your appointment, bring your real and original papers, and smile purty.

See? Easy – just keep it real and simple. If by some chance, you get approached by the following vehicle:

My cousin in California caught this shot - those fake consulate workers are everywhere!

Snap back into reality, that is not the U.S. Consulate and the driver is not an official consulate worker. Do it right and everyone will be happy.
