My brave friend requested I supply her with a bullet-proof vest and buy her some life insurance if she was going to take photos (with her Blackberry phone) at the Expomex fair in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas on the Mexican side. Lucky for both of us, she came back and even had a smile on her face.

The scouting expedition took off late last night. These are the photos shared by my friend and what you see is a low turnout. Of course, it is midweek but in past years, even midweek was packed.

I hope to go Friday afternoon – if I don’t go, for sure another friend will go but hopefully not by himself. Let’s hope for the best for Expomex and that the hard times Nuevo Laredo has won’t destroy this annual community event.

Now this is fun!

Fair food - so tasty but oh so bad for our health

Not cartel torture, no. These are los Voladores de Papantla (the flyers from Papantla, Veracruz who swing from the top from ropes)

Yay!! People at Expomex!

Looks like they are ready. We hope this is a positive turn a round for our neighbors across the creek.
