Taco Palenque del Centro

In catching up with a friend, she said “let’s do lunch at Taco Palenque downtown.” I said “What TacPal did you just say??”

Apparently while I was not watching, a Taco Palenque did indeed open up several blocks from my house in downtown Laredo & THEY DELIVER. I may think the food is a little salty and meat-oriented but it is a Laredo classic and I love their enchiladas. I predict maybe a 10 pound weight gain!

Wow! I’d heard about this but had no confirmation! I too love their enchiladas, and they deliver?!?! YAY!

One more reason to shop downtown! 🙂

    Where are they located?

    • que fregados says:

1301 Lincoln Street (and as the nice lady on the phone when I called said “es esquina con la calle Salinas”). It is where Jett Sales was.

It only has limited street parking but it seems to be mostly foot traffic that goes – the lights were still on at 8:30pm last night so I am assuming they open until that time.

My how times have changed. I remember back in the mid-80’s when Jett Sales and downtown Laredo was thriving. So much money was being made that the lease price per square foot of downtown Laredo retail office space was higher than it was for “Times Square” in New York City. At that time Jett Sales was the epicenter for the booming business sector. Fast forward to 2010……Now it’s just a taco stand. Laredo had it all at that time and we lost it. We’ve been playing catch-up ever since.
