I have not received an update since Tuesday when I got this discouraging email. I felt confident in posting before because it had been announced on the Kids Connection show – darned Tim Gutierrez! I am waiting to hear if it really will be canceled or not (although it fuzzily says it is canceled) but here is what LMS said:
We had 5 vendors confirmed but 2 have said that they do not have anything to bring to the market. We were also coordinating with … who was having an arts & craft bazaar. … will not be having the bazaar and we were down to 3 vendors. So … suggested we work on recruiting more vendors and having a larger sustainable market. We are contacting some of the existing markets in the Valley and Corpus to see if anyone would like to join us. We are also waiting to hear from the Carrizo Spring vendors. We are having our Market within the next few months but I will let you know on the exact date. We welcome the participation of … at our market. We are also going to run an ad in the paper asking anyone that may be making homemade soaps or candles etc.. to contact us. We welcome the participation of … at our market. We will provide a booth and table for you when we have the market. Please call me if you have any questions.
There you go. All you soap and candle makers – you may be what gets a mini-Farmers Market going. I bet if they would have asked they guy on Arkansas Street, he could bring half his produce over to St. Agustin plaza and it would still be a go for a mini-market to get started.
Oh well. Your best bet for knowing if it is happening or not, is to contact Laredo Main Street office.
