Tracking the Recovery Act’s monies

I can’t stop messing with the Recovery.gov website. Their detailed maps even pinpoint what contracts, grants and loans are awarded in your own neighborhood. One of the funny things I noted was that the only COMPLETED projects came from Laredo Community College, Texas A&M International University and Laredo Job Corps… hmmm… what’s up with the city of Laredo and county of Webb (& very few others like LISD)?

I am guessing that the amounts of money are much larger for the projects in progress or maybe they applied later or the projects themselves are time-consuming. I should have been keeping up on what these projects are exactly but at least I can use the recovery.gov maps that give me all kinds of tidbits of information. You can download the extensive report that includes WHO IS MANAGING the Recovery Act funded projects but it is a little large. To give readers a better idea of what is currently in the works, I took a snapshot to give a small peek at where some of our tax dollars are improving our community.
