In honor of Mr. Cisneros’ letter to the editor of Laredo Morning Times and in recognition that the McAllen area has recently opened the Anzalduas International Bridge (they have a few others nearby), I am proposing the above signs be added to our I-35 median so that passersby won’t get lost looking for the 5th bridge they had heard of being in the works so long ago. FYI – I don’t know Mr. Cisneros at all, I just liked his little ditty for us this morning.
Laredo City Council meeting prompts rhyming reason
Published: Sunday, February 21, 2010 1:55 AM CSTTo the editor:
The following observations were prompted after watching the Feb. 16 Laredo City Council meeting:
It’s not simply panic
It’s more than a hunch
The city of McAllen
IS eating our lunch
Yes, thousands of cars
indeed cross our bridges
But these people go elsewhere
When spending their riches
And who really cares
If Anzalduas ain’t busy
It’s our retail that’s suffering
So things ain’t that easy
Mr. Garza seems smug
With the traffic we cross
But ask downtown merchants
Just how real is Their loss
Our own city manager
Says geography is all
So why is downtown empty ?
Why less sales at the mall ?
So it seems, after all
Dr. Landeck is right
McAllen IS eating our lunch
And that just ain’t rightSigned,
Armando Cisneros
